Are you ready for KS AuthentiCare?

The state of Kansas is replacing the current paper time and attendant worksheet (timesheets) with an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system known as KS AuthentiCare. KS AuthentiCare is a requirement for all Home and Community-Based Service (HCBS) consumers and Direct Support Workers (DSWs). On Monday January 16th, 2012 all Direct Support Workers (DSWs) will be required to start using the new telephone system.

KS AuthentiCare system Overview:

The KS AuthentiCare system maintains a record of all consumers and their registered phone numbers.  The system also has a record of all workers and their worker ID. When a worker calls from the consumer’s registered phone(s), the system uses caller ID technology to determine the name of the consumer. The system will ask the worker to enter their worker ID to identify them in the system.  The system will then proceed to ask a few questions to determine if the worker is checking-in or out and what service they are there to provide. The worker will respond to these questions by pressing buttons on a touch tone phone’s keypad.  If the worker is calling from an unregistered phone number, the system will ask the worker to enter the consumer’s ID.  This is the consumer’s Medicaid ID.

Instructions for using the KS AuthentiCare system:

Check-in should take 30-60 seconds.  Check-out may take longer if the worker is entering several activity codes.  Activity codes are required for workers providing Personal Assistant Services and Attendant Care.  They are not required when providing Sleep Cycle Support or Overnight Respite.

If the worker believes they have made a mistake when checking-in or checking-out, they should finish the visit, record the time on a paper timesheet, and then contact Another Day, Inc. and let us know so we can make a note of it in the system.
