This past week has seemed like a roller coaster ride! At Another Day, Inc. we have been working hard to stay on top of things so that we can make the transition as easy as possible for our consumers, their families, and their Direct Support Workers (DSWs).    Here is a breakdown of what has been happening with the KS AuthentiCare implementation over the past week:

  • 12/28 – FMS agency access to the KS Authenticare system was postponed from 12/29/2011 until 1/4/2012.
  • 12/29 – The State of Kansas postponed the system “Go-Live” date from January 9th, 2012 until January 16th, 2012.
  • 12/30 – FMS agencies were  granted access to the system and asked to verify their consumer and DSW information.
  • 12/30 – The State of Kansas changed the system “Go-Live” date back to January 9th, 2012. Using the system will be optional from January 9th – 15th and  required starting January 16th.

Here’s what that means for consumers and their Direct Support Workers (DSWs):

DSWs can begin using the KS AuthentiCare system on January 9th, but will not be required to use it until January 16th. We strongly recommend that DSWs try to use the system as much as possible during the week of January 9th – January 15th and also record all time on a paper timesheet for that week.  This will allow us and the DSW to work out any issues during the week of January 9th – January 15th and ensure all time is recorded so that everyone is paid on time.  On January 16th, DSWs will be required to start using the system.  DSWs should submit their paper timesheet for the 1st – 15th as they normally would.

We have posted a document for families and DSWs that provides Information and Assistance on using the KS Authenticare system for recording visits.

We will be hard at work this week preparing for the transition, Here’s what to expect from us and what we need from you:

  • We are working on updating a list of Frequently Asked Questions that addresses issues that parents/guardians and DSWs have raised to us. We will make this available on the website and also send it to our consumers and DSWs in a letter by January 6th.
  • Last week we sent a letter to parents/guardians requesting that they provide us with the phone number that they want us to register with KS AuthentiCare.  This telephone number should be the consumer’s home phone or the consumer’s cell phone. Please remember that the State of Kansas will not allow DSW phone numbers to be registered on behalf of the consumer. Please let us know if you have not received this letter or need to update the number.
  • We will be providing frequent updates on the website with the latest information. Check back often!

Over the past week we have spoken with dozens of parents/guardians about their specific issues and concerns and will continue to work with our families and their DSWs on an individual basis as needed to ensure everyone is prepared for the transition to new phone based system.  If you have questions please feel free to contact us.  You can contact us by email (office@anotherday.info), through our website, or by phone (1-866-599-2221).

All the best to you and your family in the new year.
